RummyCircle all set to launch a gambling website in India

SkyCity

Earlier in the week, in an exclusive release with the gambling media outlet Glaws, Play Games 24×7 Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai, also known as Play Games, which is the operator of India’s leading online rummy portal, RummyCircle announced that it would be launching a new website that will offer real-money gambling on international horseracing within the next few days.

The website is known as Turfbets.com is developed in a way to provide an unparalleled horse betting experience for customers in India. Races that take place in France, US and the UK, would be offered on its portal it also has the potential of streaming hundreds of races daily through its exclusive video player.

Furthermore, users can also place bets on live races as the site offers live-video streaming and historical data for each horse, along with other statistics associated with the race. Provided the preparations go as planned. Owners of the site have announced that it will initially offer its services to just 1,000 close members within the next few days and then gradually open it to more customers.

However, since states like Odisha, Assam,  and Telangana do not allow any games of skill in which gambling occurs, residents of those states cannot access the features of Turfbets.com to participate in any online horse races.

However, in other states of India, there are no restrictions against betting on horse racing as back in 1996 the Supreme Court ruled by Dr. KR Lakhsmanan in State of Tamil Nadu declared that horse racing and rummy are very similar games. And according to that betting on horse events shall not be considered as a form of gambling. In India, Rummy has been legal since 1968.

However, once the site goes live, that rationalization would most probably change. There is a good possibility of the government concluding that the practice is, for a fact, gambling and could possibly close it down.

RummyCircle was first introduced back in 2008 by Play Games, a company founded in 2006 that offers both real-money and free-to-play rummy games, with over two million registered players and 500 million player interactions daily.
