Jennifer Lawrence Shuts Down Plastic Surgery Rumours: “It’s Just Makeup and Ageing”

Jennifer Lawrence has addressed ongoing speculation that she’s had plastic surgery, firmly denying the claims in a candid conversation with Kylie Jenner. Speaking openly about beauty standards, ageing, and the power of makeup, the actress made it clear that her evolving appearance is simply a result of growing older and working with a skilled makeup artist.

During the discussion for Interview Magazine, published on 27 November, the 33-year-old actress credited makeup artist Hung Vanngo for the changes people have noticed. “I think it’s incredible what makeup can do because I work with Hung,” Lawrence explained. “He overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon because everybody in the last few months since I’ve been working with him is convinced that I had eye surgery.”

Shutting down the rumours with humour, she added, “I didn’t have eye surgery. I’m doing makeup. Apparently, I’ve had full plastic surgery.”

Lawrence went on to point out a more natural reason for her appearance changing: time. “I started at 19, so I get the before and after pictures from when I’m 19 to 30,” she said. “And I’m like, ‘I grew up. I lost baby weight in my face, and my face changed because I’m ageing.’”

The No Hard Feelings star also addressed past speculation about her nose. “Everybody thought I had a nose job, and I’m like, ‘I’ve had the exact same nose. My cheeks got smaller. Thank you for bringing it up.’”

Kylie Jenner, who is no stranger to conversations around beauty and cosmetic enhancements, shared her own experience during the interview. She recalled how her signature lip look began as a personal experiment. “I think it started because I just wanted big, fat, juicy lips, and I just wanted that illusion that I had fuller lips,” she said. “But no one taught me. When I started doing that, I wasn’t really working with makeup artists and stuff.”

Eventually, Jenner decided to try lip fillers. “I did end up getting lip fillers,” she admitted. “But it’s also the same with me. I’ll see before and after photos when I’m 12 years old versus 26, and my eyebrows are filled differently.”

Although Jenner has been transparent about having breast augmentation at 19, she pushed back on the notion that she’s had extensive cosmetic surgery. “I have contour on,” she stated. “I’m like, ‘How can you compare my 12-year-old face and say I’ve gotten my jaw shaved and eyelids removed? What are we talking about?’”

She previously addressed these comments during an episode of The Kardashians on Hulu in July. Refuting claims that she underwent procedures due to low self-esteem, Jenner said, “I’ve always loved myself, I still love myself. I’ll always want everyone to love themselves.”
